FAQ

  • What makes your stickers different?

Our stickers are made from a premium 5-mil thick polypropylene — a durable, waterproof material that resists scratches and holds up to real use. The glossy finish is a PVC-free vinyl coating that adds a layer of UV protection, helping your design stay bold even in the sun. They’re split-backed for easy peeling and stick like they mean it. You can even toss them through the dishwasher and they’ll come out looking just fine.

As avid sportsmen, we chose polypropylene because it offers the strength and flexibility of vinyl, but with fewer environmental drawbacks. Unlike PVC, it avoids the release of long-lasting forever chemicals during production and disposal. It still takes years to break down — but not centuries.

Whether it’s slapped on a skiff cooler or the side of a well-loved water bottle, we build our stickers to last — and to leave a lighter footprint behind when they finally don’t.

  • What's the difference between Glossy and Matte finishes?

Glossy stickers come with a UV-protective coating, making them the best choice for anything that’s going to spend time outdoors — coolers, trucks, boats, you name it. They’ve got a little shine to them and take a beating better over time.

Matte stickers look incredible for a softer, understated finish — perfect for laptops, journals, tumblers, or anywhere sunlight isn’t blasting them all day. They're still water-resistant and durable, but they don’t have the extra UV armor glossy ones do.

  • Will your stickers fade in the sun?

Our glossy stickers are UV-protected to help prevent fading, even under Texas sun. No sticker lasts forever under constant exposure, but ours are built to hold their color a lot longer than your standard print shop decals.

  • Are your stickers waterproof?

They sure are. Our stickers are made from waterproof polypropylene with a UV-protected finish, built to handle splashes, rain, and even full submersion. Whether it's a water bottle, a skiff cooler, or the back window of a dusty ranch rig, they'll stick with you through it.

  • What surfaces will your stickers stick to?

Pretty much anything smooth and clean — metal, plastic, glass, laptops, coolers, bumpers, toolboxes. Just make sure the surface is dry and free of dust or grease before applying for the best bond. Rough, porous surfaces (like unfinished wood or textured walls) aren't ideal.

  • Where are your stickers made?

Proudly printed right here in the USA. We work with trusted partners to make sure everything we ship out meets the standards we’d expect for our own rigs, coolers, and gear.

  • Are your stickers dishwasher safe?

Technically, yes — and a lot of folks run them through without any issues. That said, high-pressure jets can dig into scratches or nicks over time, especially if your gear sees hard use. We usually hand-wash ours to keep them looking fresh longer, but if yours ends up scarred a little? That's just character in our book.

  • When do you recommend matte finish stickers?

Matte finish stickers look fantastic on the right decal and while they are also dishwasher safe, they don't offer UV protection so unless we know they are going on a location with limited sunlight, we usually recommend glossy.

  • Do black oxide screws rust?

410 stainless steel screws with black oxide finish are ideal for inland outdoor use. They offer strong corrosion resistance without the high cost of marine-grade options. While the black oxide finish may develop patina or surface discoloration over time—especially in humid or rainy conditions—this is cosmetic and won’t impact performance.

For long-lasting appearance, we recommend an occasional a light coat of wax or rust inhibitor.

  • Can I use the audio anchor in coastal areas or on a boat?

Yes—but be sure to select or request the 316 stainless steel screw option, which is fully marine-grade and built for saltwater environments.

Black oxide or 410 stainless steel screws are not rated for marine use and may corrode prematurely in coastal conditions.

  • How do you install TEK screws?

TEK screws (also known as self-drilling screws) are designed to drill their own pilot hole—no need to pre-drill or hammer them in to start. Just use a drill with a properly sized driver bit. Let the screw’s tip do the work. Avoid overtightening, which can strip the material or break the screw.

  • Can I predrill a pilot hole for TEK screws?

Yes, you can predrill a pilot hole for TEK screws, though it’s not required. These screws are self-drilling by design, but a small pilot hole can help when working with harder materials, stacked layers, or when you need pinpoint accuracy. Just be sure the hole isn’t too wide—if the threads don’t bite, the screw won’t hold properly.

  • What does “MULE™ Tested” mean?

    Mule /myo͞ol/ (noun)

The offspring of a male donkey and a female horse, typically sterile and used as a beast of burden.

MULE™ stands for Miles Under Load & Element. Sticker Outfitter’s in-house testing methodology — real-world use in the field on ranch rigs, boats, and side-by-sides, not theorized in a lab under controlled conditions. Gear that gets soaked in coastal spray, rattled across rock-strewn roads, and beat on by folks who treat field gear like it owes them money.

Nothing lasts forever — but when our gear retires, it leaves it all on the field… or as we like to say, it’s tougher than a knockin’ donkey.

  • Why did you make the Audio Anchor & MULE™ Straps?

At Sticker Outfitter, we make premium stickers built to handle the elements. But when we hit a gap in our own setups—no good anchor point for our speakers and no straps tough enough to trust—we decided to fix it ourselves. Plus, we’ve always loved making things stick to other things. It’s kind of our thing.

  • How long do MULE™ Straps last, and how do I know when to replace them?

MULE™ Straps are built for field use — they don’t wear out overnight. With occasional use, they’ll last 7–10 years. In harsh sun or saltwater environments, expect 2–4 solid seasons before they start to show signs of wear.

    Look for:

    - Fading or chalky feel
    - Stiffening or loss of rebound
    - Minor cracking around the buckle holes

They won’t fail suddenly — but when they stop cinching tight or feel brittle, it’s time to swap ‘em. Think of them like boots or brake pads: built to last, but not forever.

  • Are your stickers eco-friendly?

More than your average vinyl sticker. As avid sportsmen, we chose polypropylene because it avoids the forever chemical issues tied to PVC production. While polypropylene does take years to break down, PVC takes centuries.

  • Are your MULE™ Straps eco-friendly?

We don’t throw that word around lightly. What we can tell you is MULE™ Straps are made from recyclable TPU and meet REACH standards—the same certification used for kids’ toys and medical gear. No trash fillers, no forever chemicals, no heavy metals. Just clean, durable gear built to last.

  • Is the Audio Anchor eco-friendly?

It’s not lab-certified, but here’s what we can tell you: the Audio Anchor is CNC-cut from food-grade HDPE—the same non-toxic plastic used in cutting boards and water tanks. It’s UV-stabilized, corrosion-resistant, and designed to take a beating without breaking down. HDPE is a #2 recyclable plastic and one of the most widely reused materials out there. We built it to last—not to end up in a landfill after one season.
